Cultivate


Cultivate at LCC is an inclusive higher education program option for students with intellectual 
disabilities to equally take part in academic, social, and career experiences on campus and in the surrounding community. Students enrolled in Cultivate can explore an academic pathway leading to a Comprehensive Higher Education Certificate upon program completion. This initiative 
empowers students to engage fully in college life, forge meaningful connections, and achieve their academic and personal goals in a supportive and equitable environment. Students participating in Cultivate will experience person-centered planning, personalized academic advising, and career 
exploration and preparation, independent living skill development, internship/employment 
opportunities, peer mentoring, supported campus engagement, and community partnerships. This Certificate program will be highly individualized based on the student’s interest and long-term goals 
career plans. 

Learning Outcomes:

• Collaborate effectively with others and engage in varying levels of interpersonal communication.

• Reveal self-determination and self-advocacy skills.

. Foster key life skills-such as money management, transportation, and cleaning-with greater inde- pendence, for success in academics and daily life.

• Connect with peers, faculty, and professionals, building a network that can support future endeavors.

. Identify and pursue attainable career goals.

• Exhibit transferable and marketable occupational/job attainment skills.
