Equipment Operator II Certificate

This certificate program builds upon students’ learning in the Heavy Equipment I Certificate program as it pertains to heavy equipment operation. The curriculum furthers students’ understanding of heavy equipment safety and maintenance while focusing primarily on site layout and grading skills, along with pipelaying work. Coursework will include the use of simulators to get students familiar with the controls of each machine, as well as a general understanding of productivity and efficiency in operating heavy equipment. Students will then move into the operation of real equipment to further build competency in operation.
Learning Outcomes:
Certificate completers will be able to:
- Effectively demonstrate an understanding of work site layout, grading and staking.
- Understand controls and operation of motor graders, bulldozers, and dump trucks.
- Understand basic pipelaying skills.
- Earn 10hr OSHA Construction Industry Standards certificate.
