NUR 106 - Medical and Surgical Nursing ConceptsCredits: 9(3.5-.5-5) Introduces the student to the role of the nurse in assessing and meeting the medical and surgical nursing needs of adults across the life span in various health care settings. The student learns nursing concepts to assist the patient in achieving optimal functioning. Knowledge from foundational nursing, the sciences, pharmacology, and nutrition along with the continued integration of mental health and cultural concepts provides foundations for nursing care planning for medical and surgical clients. 9 Credits (3.5 credits theory = 52.5 contact hours, .5 credits lab = 15 contact hours, 5 credits clinical = 150 contact hours). Prerequisite(s): none.
