NUR 216 - Adv. Concepts of Medical Surgical Nursing II Credits: 5(2.3-2.7) A continuation of NUR 206, focuses on complex medical/surgical conditions of the high acuity patient. Builds on medical/surgical nursing theory, mental health concepts, communication, collaboration, caring, and critical thinking/clinical reasoning necessary for safe, patient-centered nursing care to developmentally and culturally diverse adult patients experiencing high acuity medical/surgical conditions. Incorporates evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional standards, and legal and ethical responsibilities of the professional nurse as applied in the acute care and high acuity settings. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in a variety of clinical settings. 5 Credits (2.3 credits theory = 34.5 contact hours and 2.7credits clinical = 121.5 contact hours). Prerequisite(s): NUR 206, and 212.
