The Construction Trades Essentials Certificate provides entry-level as well as upgrading skills courses for a solid foundation in construction. This certificate includes an introduction to carpentry, computer-aided drafting, hand and power tools, and OSHA industry standards, all while getting plenty of hands-on experience.

As a result of completing the Construction Trades Essentials Certificate at Lamar Community College, students will be able to:

Identify various hand and power tools used on construction sites, their intended use, and how to safely operate them.
Identify multiple materials used for building and construction and understand their different applications.
Complete an OSHA 10HR Certificate course and obtain a 10HR card.
