Construction Trades Exterior Building Certificate

Total certificate hours: 17
This Certificate provides entry-level as well as upgrading skills courses for a solid foundation of exterior building renovation and new construction. This certificate includes hand-on learning in framing, sizing and installation of windows and exterior doors, and the various materials and techniques used for exterior finishes and trim.
Program Prerequisites: Successful completion of Essentials Certificate or instructor permission required to enter Exterior Building Certificate.
As a result of completing the Construction Trades Exterior Certificate at Lamar Community College, students will be able to:
- Identify and apply framing techniques as they apply to walls, windows, and doors.
- Understand the processes behind and install exterior materials including but not limited to: exterior sheathing, flashing, various types of siding and trims, stucco, concrete, and roofing.
