This one-year certificate is designed to provide students, through hands-on learning, the skills and knowledge needed to train rope horses.
Rope Horse Training Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate training of a horse focusing on work in the box, running and rating, setting and handling, and facing.
2. Demonstrate training of a horse focusing on position, stopping, and working a rope.
3. Effectively demonstrate proficiency in chores and tasks required for working safely in a barn environment. Demonstrate the ability to prepare a colt for the first ride and have basic knowledge of performance horse training.
4. Illustrate and apply professional employability skills, such as the importance of being timely, having a willing attitude, taking initiative, cooperating, and providing quality care for animals.
