Admission Criteria:


Basic Skills Assessment


Accuplacer or Compass or Asset or following with “C” or better
EA 61 or greater or ALG 45 or greater or IA 35 or greater MAT 050 or higher

Be aware that the Accuplacer will be going away sometime during 2015-2016 academic year and there will be a new testing platform in place. 

Prerequisite General Education: (15-17 credits)


Note:


All BIO prefixed courses must be completed within 7 years prior to entry. Acceptance into the Nursing Program is contingent upon attaining a minimum grade of “C” for each prerequisite courses and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above in prerequisite courses.

Co-requisite General Education Courses: (14 credits)


  • IMPORTANT:  All co-requisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.  Students enrolled in the nursing program, who fail to receive a grade of “C” or higher in any co-requisite course will be required to withdraw from the nursing program. 

  •  

  • Credits: 4(3-1)
  • Note:  BIO 204 may be taken prior to admission to the nursing program OR during the first (1st) semester of the nursing program.

  • Credits: 4(3-1)
  • Note:  BIO 216 must be taken prior to entering the second year of the nursing program.  This course requires prerequisites of BIO 201 and BIO 202. 

  • Credits: 3(3-0)
  • Note:  MAT 103 may be taken prior to admission to the nursing program OR during the first (1st) semester of the nursing program. 

  •  

  • Humanities or Social & Behavioral Science (3 credits required).  These 3 credits must be completed prior to the end of the last semester of the A.D.N. program.

* This course will be necessary only if the student decides to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) to obtain a licensure as a licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.). ALL prerequisite general education coursework (18 credits) must be completed prior to application for PN licensure.

**Licensed Practical Nurses and students who have exited the first year of a nursing program and who have not completed NUR 150 - Obstetric and Pediatric Nursing or equivalent, must complete NUR 189 Transition from LPN to ADN to qualify for entry into the RN year of the program.
